EnBio's core technology, CoBlast, replaces the oxide layer of reactive metals with an application-specific chemically bonded and particulate-free thin surface. The process is uniquely non-complex, requiring no thermal input, no wet chemistry and is performed in an ambient temperature and pressure environment.
Sample types of such 'replacement' surfaces - called ThinKotes - include the deposition of carbons, bioceramics, metals, alloys and fluoropolymers onto reactive metal substrates such as titanium, aluminium, cobalt-chrome and stainless steels. The imparted surface characteristics offer selective icephobic, hydrophilic, low friction, wear-resistant, anti-galling, thermally emissive or biocompatible qualities.
Beyond ThinKotes, EnBio is developing a suite of primer surfaces aimed at offering step-changes in the performance of existing thermal spray coating and brazing processes. Development is focused on offering a pathway from mechanical bonding towards chemical bonding for both plasma and HVOF coating processes.
EnBio is partnering with leading companies to first validate and then leverage the potential of employing CoBlast throughout a variety of challenging applications which currently include the aerospace, automotive, defense, energy, medical implant, oil & gas and satellite sectors. Standard and/or bespoke equipment options and support are available globally for immediate traction.
